Okay, here it goes. I wrote a random post asking whether money can buy true love. However, someone told me my answer is not a proper general paper answer. And he posts a one to show what a general paper should look like. He said that my essay do not have stand, examples and evaluation (=.= in the first place, I am not writing a GP essay at all). So, I am here to show you all how I think a true essay looks like.

Can money buy everything? Discuss.

From the early stage to human civilization, human started exchanging goods through batter trade. With the invention of paper currency, transactions between people became easier. Money allows people to buy anything that the seller wants to sell. This caused people to think whether money really can buy everything, all relevant matters. Which means that everything can be refer to any goods, human beings, character, love etc. Although it is true that money can truly buy many things, however everything is too extreme a word. Therefore, I do agree that money cannot buy everything.

Firstly, money can buy cure for diseases. For diseases like Polio, it can be prevented by having vaccination. Since, 1988, the WHO, UNICEF and the Rotary Foundation have led a worldwide effort to eradicate polio. With the invention of vaccination, it has made the developing countries like Americas, Europe and 36 other countries to declare polio-free. If this effort succeeds, it would be the only second time the humankind has eradicated a diseases since 1979’s success over small pox. However, it could be very difficult as most developing countries do not provide their people with proper education. These people will be vulnerable to rumours. For example, Nigeria has halted its polio vaccination programme in2003 due to the widespread rumours that the vaccine contained the ADIS virus and was part of a post-September 11 conspiracy to sterilize Muslim girls. 18 previously polio-free countries have outbreaks that lead back to Nigeria. Also, developing countries do not have enough money to fund this programme as polio prevention is an extremely tedious work. It required 10 doses of chilled vaccines that is space out for a few months. Also, authorities have to ensure that the vaccines are chilled as it would become useless if it is preserved in warm environment. However, for a developing, to prevent the vaccines turning warm is very costly and they could not afford it unlike the rich developed countries. Therefore, money could buy people’s safety and health.

Although money can prevent diseases and malnutrition, however, it could not buy a responsible leader that care for the rights of the people. In Congo, the country has been in turmoil after Colonel Joseph Desire Mobutu began his dictatorial reign. He ban any traces of Western cultures and beliefs. However, as Mobutu openly supported the West during the Cold War, he received many aids and investments from the west. Even though, he plundered the rich natural resources like minerals, diamonds and timber for his own personal interest. 2007 UN humanitarian reports show that sexual atrocities against Congolese women went beyond rape, with even include sexual slavery, forced incest and even cannibalism. More and a thousand people were killed each day due to malnutrition and diseases as the people have no proper access to clean water. Although Congo is a very rich country with rich natural resources, but without a good leader that truly cares for the needs of the people. Congo citizens remains under the poverty line and could not be given the humanitarian rights. Unlike Singapore, who is poor of natural resources is one of the top developed countries with high GDP per capital. Therefore, I agree that money could not buy a responsible leader and a safe country to live in.

With money, it allows the country to protect the environment. However, poor countries have to choose economic growth over a clean environment. With the help of science and technology, big businesses go green. A multinational company like Wal-Mart has pledged to cut down on its food packaging by 25%. Sony, Nike and Polaroid have said that they will fulfil their carbon pledged by no later than 2010. Using their new technology, Nike has come out with their newest product which is the Nike Trash Talk. This shoe is mad of synthetic leather waste the factory floor, the shoe laces used environmentally friendly materials and packed in a fully recycled cardboard shoe box. These companies are going green because people now tend towards environmentally friendly goods and it is also more profitable going green with the help of new science and technology. If all these multinationals do follow their vows, the environmental could be saved. Therefore, to a small extend, science and technology do not owe ecology an apology. Instead, we should thank science and technology for saving the earth. However, without any money, high technological research could not be made to save the environment. All these green efforts could only be done by rich enterprise or countries.

Developed countries with rich of capital could focus on keeping the environment clean. And all the technologies involved are very expensive. Even if the developing countries do have the technology, the people could not afford the cleaner and greener alternatives, and they would rather use the cheaper but more polluted fossil fuel. Renewable energy like the solar energy and the wind energy required about $6.3 billion to install in the country. This is a huge amount of money that the poor could not afford. Rather, the developing countries have to suffer from environmental degradation. The world’s poorest nations have suffered due to the electronic waste being dumped in their countries. High-tech products like mobile phones and computers are being dumped in Africa and the people there have suffered from lead, cadmium, mercury and other hazardous waste. 25,000 people have fell sick in the Ivory Coast where people are dying of mercury poisoning. Therefore, money could buy a clean and green environment.

In conclusion, money should buy almost everything. However, there are also things that money could not buy.

After searching through the net, many has claimed that to define true love is an insult. There is no words that can describe what true love really is. However, I found this:

However, can we really give up everything just to see that this person is happy? Give up your career, your fame, your wealth, your success and even your family? I myself do not have the courage.

Imagine, you give up everything to be with the person of your dreams. A person with nothing. No future set up for you. No plans. No dreams. Feeling that you can sacrifice everything... However, years later, you found out that you have nothing left.

The person of your dream’s looks has gone. Without any money. You have to worry every small thing like food and a shelter. I believe you will quarrel. Do you regret choosing him/her?

Money can buy stability, so that you can love this person without worrying so much...

The Starfish - Make a Difference Story

Once upon a time there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work. One day he was walking along the shore. As he looked down the beach, he saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself to think of someone who would dance to the day. So he began to walk faster to catch up.

As he got closer, he saw that it was a young man and the young man wasn't dancing, but instead he was reaching down to the shore, picking up something and very gently throwing it into the ocean.

As he got closer he called out, "Good morning! What are you doing?"

The young man paused, looked up and replied, "Throwing starfish in the ocean." "I guess I should have asked, why are you throwing starfish in the ocean?" "The sun is up, and the tide is going out, and if I don't throw them in they'll die." "But, young man, don't you realize that there are miles and miles of beach, and starfish all along it. Met up with Yan after a gazilion years and did what we promised each other to do; manicure and pedicure. After that was dinner and the highlight of our date today was a random surveyor approached us.

He asked if we are students, Yan replied no. He asked if we're working, Yan replied no.
He asked what we're doing now since we're neither students nor working, Yan replied unemployed.
He asked the reason behind our unemployment, Yan replied due to the recession.
He asked for our age, I replied 23.
He asked whether we're interested to work in the financial sector, Yan replied no.
He asked why, Yan replied that's not our major.
He asked what did we major in, I replied Yan majored in Science, I majored in Engineering.

The real truth

It suddenly struck me that if I don't very well for my As, I totally have no where to go.
Without chemistry, what I can do?
Nothing.
Now my results are struggling between a fail and a pass grade. And I am going for all US lessons.
US means lessons for people who got U and S grades which in short you fail.

It seems that no matter how I study, there seems not much improvement in the results.
University is like so impossible for me now.
GOSH!! What am I suppose to do?

It is realy sweet and touching.

Quote Of The Day, baby:

The girl in the picture is Katie Kirkpatrick, she is 21. Next to her is her fiancé, Nick, 23.
The picture was taken shortly before their wedding ceremony, held on January 11, 2005 in the US.
Katie has terminal cancer and spend hours a day receiving medication.
In the picture, Nick is waiting for her on one of the many sessions of chemo to end.

In spite of all the pain, organ failures, and morphine shots, Katie is going along with her wedding and took care of every detail. The dress had to be adjusted a few times due to her constant weight loss.

An unusual accessory at the party was the oxygen tube that Katie used throughout the ceremony and reception as well.
The other couple in the picture are Nick's parents. Excited to see their son marrying his high school sweetheart.

Katie, in her wheelchair with the oxygen tube , listening to a song from her husband and friends.

At the reception, Katie had to take a few rests. The pain did not allow her to stand for long periods.

Katie died five days after her wedding day. Watching a woman so ill and weak getting married and with a smile on her face makes us think.....

Happiness is reachable, no matter how long it lasts .

We should not make our lives complicated.

Friday, we took down the banners.

Orientation Camp

The 4days and 3 nights of J1 orientation camp is over le.
I feel that this time the J1 campers are really good.
They are not as troublesome as us last year.
However, I feel that I am not as great as my ogls.

Valentines' day, it was the last day of the camp.
We are doing emotional web, and I feel that it failed.
First, I am not good enough to bring the whole mood down.
Secondly, all the campers mood too high.
Very time, I managed to bring the whole mood down. Some joker will crack a joke and we all laughed.
Wah Sian, we are supposed to be emotional.
=.=
After the camp, Family 3 ogls went for breakfast, lunch and dinner together. That timing is weird and we didn't eat breakfast and lunch, and it was near dinner.
We started talking about how we felt about the camp.

We felt that we have not done enough.
Because we our minimal work effort, the campers are already bonded.
What if we really work very hard?
The counselors really worked very hard too.
But the we felt that the time matrix is weird.
We do not have the time to have more family time.
We failed to really passed down the JJ culture.
I can now really feel the distinct four houses, not like the previous is the one JJ family only.

I really really really wanted another orientation camp.
I want to do a better job this time.
I have already tried my best but I don't think I did a great job.

I am sorry that I can't be your ogl again.

-I am going on diet! So that I can eat happily during Chinese New Year.

There is always one question I asked my mother, what if I die? Will you feel sad?

I have walked pass death god many times, but I am still alive now.

The years that I feel that I am really going to die, but when I open my eyes. I still can smell the freshness of the grass and the heat from the sun.
It is really good to be alive again.
If I was dead than, I have a strong feeling that I am so going to regret my decision.

Anorexia nervosa, being so afraid that I am fat. I am successful in losing weight, but what is the consequences? I never thought of it at the point of time. Stupid me.

I found a job that pay me 3 hours for $300. LoL!

P.S. that is my dad who going to pay me $100 for every hour I studied.
Is he really that desperate for me to study? I think I am not going to take his precious ba. Hehe.

Went to zoo on last Wednesday with Nini, Jiawei, Siqi and Guanyi.
It is rained again! =.=
I remember going to zoo four times in my entire life, and all of it rained. =.=
We hide in a toilet for shelter and I watched Saw 3 using Nini iPod.
Bad Bad CHOICE!! Watching a horror movie in a toilet and being caught in a rain. BAD BAD CHOICE!!!!
I totally freak out! =.=
Luckily the snake 'saved' me in way but killed me in another.
Cause we played truth and truth, a torture man. ZZZZ.
We watched Madagascar after dinner. Quite funny. But Guanyi laughed a bit too loud sia. lol

Well, we known each other during LINE camp 1. Just maybe because horoscope match, we quickly became very good friends. We tell each other everything.

LINE camp 1

The first successful camp that we facilitate.
We cried real badly cause we are so touched that the campers appreciate our effort.

Our first real shopping trip. (:
Still remember that just because we wanted to buy a roxy hp strip, we ran around the city link like mad women. LOL but it is still very fun.

Our first family 3 outing. can you see our eye bags?!!! We never slept for like 5 days?!!!

Our first trip to town council. That night, i was like scolding at you badly. Cause you nearly fell in the middle of the road!!!!
